Frequently asked questions
Straight answers, in plain language. If yours isn’t here, call us — a real person picks up.
What happens at a consultation?
You talk, we listen — really listen. We go through your story, your symptoms, and anything you’ve already tried, then explain which testing (if any) would make sense for you and what it would tell us. No pressure, no obligation, and you leave understanding your options either way.
What is root-cause medicine?
It’s the difference between quieting a symptom and asking why it’s there. Instead of matching a symptom to a prescription, we test — hormones, nutrients, metabolism, brain and nerve function — to find what’s actually driving how you feel, and then build the plan around that.
What does a WAVi brain assessment tell me?
WAVi is an EEG-based assessment that objectively measures brain function — electrical activity, processing speed (a measure called P300), and reaction time — in about an hour, with no needles and nothing entering your body. It gives you a real baseline and a way to track changes over time, as part of a cognitive-health conversation with our team. It isn’t a diagnosis — it’s measurement, and measurement is where honest answers start.
How do payments work?
E. Michael Health is a cash-pay clinic, which keeps our care personal and our pricing transparent. We gladly accept HSA and FSA cards for eligible services, and we’ll always tell you costs up front — no surprises.
Do I need a referral?
No. You can book directly with us — most patients start with a consultation they scheduled themselves. If your situation calls for care outside what we do, we’ll say so and point you in the right direction.
Is this like an IV drip bar?
No — and we’re glad you asked. Every infusion here, from high-dose vitamin C protocols to iron infusions, is clinically indicated, dosed from your labs and history, and administered by nursing staff as part of a supervised care plan. It’s IV therapy as medicine, not a menu.
What is the BAHI+ suite?
BAHI+ is our small suite of supportive wellness therapies — full-body red light therapy (photobiomodulation), molecular hydrogen, and sonicwave whole-body vibration — named for the body systems they’re used to support: blood circulation, antioxidants, hormonal balance, and immunity. Clients use them for relaxation, recovery, and general wellness as part of a supervised plan. They’re gentle, non-invasive, complementary therapies — not treatments or cures for any disease. Do you see patients with Lyme, POTS, or MCAS?
Yes — complex chronic illness is a dedicated focus here. Allison Gadient, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, our Nurse Practitioner focused on complex chronic illness, works with people navigating Lyme disease, POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome), MCAS (mast cell activation syndrome), and similar conditions — with testing-first evaluation and consulting physicians on the tough calls. If you’ve been dismissed before, you won’t be here. Meet Allison Gadient, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC →
How long until I feel results?
It depends on what we find and what we’re restoring — some people notice changes within weeks, others take longer, and we’d be guessing if we promised a date. What we can promise: you’ll know the plan, you’ll know what we’re measuring, and we’ll adjust together based on real follow-up testing, not hope.
Can you help with heart-health concerns?
We start where we always do: assessment. ANS (autonomic nervous system) testing gives real insight into how your heart and nervous system are coping — heart-rate variability, stress response, autonomic balance — alongside comprehensive labs. From there, some patients include supportive wellness therapies like photobiomodulation (our red-light bed) and molecular hydrogen as part of a supervised plan, with consulting physicians weighing in. We work alongside your cardiologist, never in place of one.
What should I bring to my first visit?
Any recent lab work or medical records you have, a list of medications and supplements you take, and your questions — all of them. If you don’t have records handy, don’t let that stop you; we can start from where you are.
Do you work with men’s health concerns?
Yes — and if you’ve been putting it off, you’re in good company; most men do. Low energy, low testosterone, and erectile dysfunction are common, physical, and testable — often early signals of hormone and vascular changes rather than isolated problems. We start with real testing (hormone panels, cardiometabolic markers, ANS testing), explain the results in plain language, and build a plan around causes — with bioidentical testosterone therapy where clinically indicated. No lectures, no judgment — just answers.
Are your supplements different from store vitamins?
Yes — in ways you can verify. We use practitioner-grade nutraceuticals: third-party-tested formulations in bioavailable forms and meaningful potencies, a different tier from what sits on a big-box shelf. More importantly, nothing here is picked at random — formulations are chosen from your labs, dosed as part of your supervised plan, and adjusted as your follow-up testing comes back.
Can you help if other clinics couldn’t?
Complicated cases are honestly our specialty — many of our patients had been told everything looked “normal” for years. We can’t promise an outcome (no honest clinic can), but we can promise a deeper look than you’ve likely had, and plain-language answers about what we find.
